Welcome

Welcome to Strapped Safe Sunraysia, your trusted mobile child restraint installation and education service.

As a local mother, I recognised a significant gap in our community when it came to reliable information about child restraints and ensuring our little people are as safe as possible in the car. My approach is guided by best practice recommendations—going beyond legal minimums—because when it comes to safety, physics always trumps basic road laws.

Little people being safe in the car has been a personal passion for years. Long before I had my own children! Initially, I had basic training and assisted family and friends with their child restraints. However, as more people sought my help, I realised the need for specialised knowledge. So, I committed to extensive training and became officially certified and accredited as a Type 1 Fitter—also known as an Accredited Installer or Child Passenger Safety Technician. I am very proud to hold dual accreditation and be the only ACRI and Kidsafe Accredited Installer in our area, ensuring your little people are in the safest hands.

At Strapped Safe Sunraysia, I am dedicated to helping families install and use child restraints correctly, ensuring maximum safety for the most precious passengers. Let’s work together to keep your little ones safe on the road!

A commitment to the safety of our little people

At Strapped Safe, your little people are the most important part of what we do.

From free consultations to ensure the restraint you choose is suitable for both your family and vehicle, to purchasing, installing and adjusting as your little person grows. Strapped Safe will ensure you understand your child restraint and how to use it correctly.

An affordable option

Let’s face it, little people aren’t cheap! The excitement when you see the first ultrasound, quickly turns into a wish-list of all those baby items you ‘need’, when in reality, lots of things can be purchased second hand (I know my beautiful Boori cot is the most expensive clothes basket I’ll ever own).

Child restraints are something that are best brand new – think of it as an investment to your little person’s safety. Something they’ll use over and over again (and likely any siblings will also use). We want to ensure you are selecting the right restraint for your needs, as the wrong one could be a costly mistake.

Strapped Safe offers free consultations to help chose a child restraint in your budget, that will suit your vehicle and your individual family’s needs.

A cheaper child restraint is just as safe as an expensive child restraint, if installed and used correctly.

Consultation

An in-depth conversation with you and your family to understand your individual needs. Asking questions such as these, helps select the perfect child restraint for your family.

Are you planning more little people in the future?

What vehicle do you have?

What is your budget?

Do you have any child restraint experience?

Purchasing

An opportunity to purchase the child restraint/s discussed in our consultation. Strapped Safe only stock best practice child restraints to keep your little person as safe as possible for as long as possible.

Yes, you can also purchase without a consultation.

All purchases come with free installation.

Installation

Not only will your restraint be installed as per manufacturer specifications, but you will also be shown how to install and adjust your child restraint.

Why? Because you need to be comfortable and confident installing – think needing to swap cars halfway to Melbourne. As much as I love my customers, Charlton might be a tad too far!

Adjustments

Installing is one thing, but adjusting as your little person grows is equally as important. When booking as installation, we go through how to adjust your child restraint so the harness straps and headrest are at the optimal position, ensuring the rear facing angle is still perfect and adjusting the crutch buckle if needed.

Already had it installed but need an adjustment, no worries at all!

Checking

Had your restraint installed elsewhere or had a go yourself, but something doesn’t look right? That’s ok, Strapped Safe are happy to check your restraint to ensure everything is as it should be. Having a go yourself, is the best way to learn!

Is the angle ok?

Are the harness straps in the right position?

Are any towels used?

Is there movement where there shouldn’t be?

Education

Needing a refresher for a group of people? Strapped Safe will come to you and provide education sessions covering legal minimum standards VS best practice and then having a play with your vehicle/s and your child restraint/s to show you exactly how to use them.

*Note, this is an education session.

Strapped Safe is not an RTO and therefore cannot provide attainment certification to become an accredited installer – the only RTO certified to provide this is Kidsafe.

Fleets, Safety Checks and Audits

Strapped Safe will come to you and ensure the child restraints installed and used in your vehicles are 100% safe – this includes both visual and physical inspections and a written report.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Why buy new and not second hand? Short answer: You never know the full history of a second-hand/used restraint.

Long answer: Do you know how it was washed? Do you know if it has been in an accident? Do you know if it was ever dropped? Do you know if anyone has tampered with the straps? These are all the unknowns of buying second hand. Of course, if you know the restraint history, there is no reason you can’t. However, think of your little person’s child restraint as an investment for their long-term safety – you probably wouldn’t buy a second-hand helmet from FB Marketplace, would you?

Do restraints need to be professionally installed?

Short answer: No, absolutely not. There is no law stating this.

Long answer: It is always good to have a go yourself, being guided by your manual. If you do get it professionally installed, a good reputable installer will take the time and show you how to install and answer any questions you have – you should always leave feeling confident.

Can you help troubleshoot over the phone?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: We can definitely have a conversation via phone, message or video call – it could be a quick fix. If not, we will arrange a suitable time to fix it up.

Will you come and speak at my new parent group?

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Whether it be a parent group, playgroup or staff group, we can discuss your needs. From a causal conversation and Q&A or a formal presentation, we will organise something to suit.

Can I buy a gift voucher for a friend?

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: You can purchase a service or a product for someone or you can gift them a certain amount to use how they would like.
